During my flight back to HKG from London, I watched this film named "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" on the plane. There was a quote like this in the film- " To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel. That is the purpose of life.” I have to say that this movie has inspired me, or should I say, it has waken me up? What is the true meaning of life? What have you done to make your life a little bit different? What have you planned for the best youthful years of your life?
As I began to think about the answer to these questions, memories of my journey traveling across different countries and cities flooded back. 4 years. 22 countries. 51 cities. And counting! Is traveling the answer?
Spontaneous trip to Mexico City climbing up the Teotihuacan Pyramids and Shrine of Guadalupe; first time traveling solo and sleeping in a 10-bed mixed dorm in Osaka; paddling along a beautiful lake in England under heavy rain in Outward Bound; 4-hour epic climb to the Great Wall under a 40-degree-Celsius-Beijing-summer-weather; driving along the San Diego Pacific Ocean coastal line with lousy music on while embracing the SoCal sunshine; 12-hour overnight train from Venice to Vienna sharing the sleeping compartment with a pair of lovely old NYC couples who generously gave me a "safety pin" so that I could "lock my backpack" (LOL); eating kebap 7 days in a row for breakfast, lunch and dinner in Paris in order to save money; running insanely in NYC subway carrying tonnes of luggage in order to catch the shuttle bus to Boston; ; crying on the flight flying to Los Angeles from HKG; cycling in Lucca along the old town castle walls with autumn breeze quietly drifting across your face; got lost in La Jolla and walked back home alone in complete darkness on the first day of school following the directions of a complete stranger (-,-); eating genuine Portugese egg tarts in Lisbon (LOL)...

As I grow older, this genuine curiosity to see the bigger world has indeed died down a bit. But recalling all these unforgettable memories has given me the courage to continue to pursue this dream.
And for recording purpose, I have decided to open this blog to record the bits and pieces of my travel journey so far, to be sorted by City. I will write about the memories, the people, the food... and how the particular trip has inspired/ changed me. Through writing this blog, I hope that I could remind myself to always stay hungry for new adventures and experience.
