Upcoming Convention Plans

Jon Y.and I are planning on running two Lebanon '82 games at Cold Wars (March 11-13, 2011). We don't have a description for them yet, but we'll have something soon since the deadline for the preliminary events listing is in December. It will be two games on Saturday, both on the same urban terrain you've seen here a few times. Two other club members are also running a Lebanon '82 themed game in 28mm. So with 4 club members participating, it's kind of a club theme for Cold Wars.

I'm already thinking ahead to Historicon and will probably run a South African vs. SWAPO/FAPLA scenario like Operation Protea.

Jon Davis the organizer of GZG ECC (Feb 25 -27, 2011) twisted my arm into sending him my event listings. Since Cold Wars and GZG are both two weeks apart I decided to go with two games I've run before (just not at GZG). The only thing that is new is that Chetequera hasn't been playtested with SG2 rules. I'm not too concerned. Here's what I sent Jon, along with my time preferences.

South African Bush War: Chetequera

2 - 4 Players
Saturday Morning
Rules: SG2
Complexity: Moderate

Part of Operation Reindeer in 1978, the raid on the SWAPO base at Chetequera is often overshadowed by the Para drop at Cassinga. The raid on Chetequera was the first deep strike by a Mechanized unit deep into Angola, and the baptism of fire for the South African Ratel-20 APC.

Wild Geese at the Airport

2 - 4 Players
Sunday Morning
Rules: SG2
Complexity: Introductory

Julius Limbani is the last great hope for peace and reconciliation in this part of Africa. He has been abducted in a coup d'etat and sentenced to death by the dictator Col. Mboya. A group of aged mercenaries has rescued him but is betrayed by the man who hired them, Sir Edward. As the mercenaries attempt to escape the country on their own ingenuity they discover there is an aging Dakota aircraft just on the other side of a nearby abandoned native Kraal. Can they escape to freedom with Limbani, or will they be cut down by Col Mboya's troops?
